Credentials

2007:  received Ga Massage License MT000841   The State of GA requires massage therapists to have a massage license from the state.  We have to pass a qualifying test for this. Then we have to take continuing education courses , 24 hrs. every 2 years, in order to renew our license. Jim has been licensed since 2007.

Ga Massage License

2006: Graduated from Rising Spirit Institute of Natural Health, 750 hours of Professional Massage Therapy The Institute had night and day classes on two campuses.  I went to the night class.  The class started with 25  and finished with about 18.  I  attended Tuesday and Thursday from 5 until 10 o'clock. and 8 until 5 every other weekend. Each class had an instructor and a helper.

2006: graduated Rising Spirit Institute of Natural Health.  This is the transcript of a professional massage program.

2007: National certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. When I took my massage license test for Ga I also studied and took the national test for this certification.  I have not kept it current.

2006:  NeuroMuscular Therapist Certificate.

In school we  studied six months of Swedish ,deep tissue , and Reflexology. We were doing very good massage. I wondered what we would study the next six months. We were amazed in Neuromuscular Therapy. We learned every muscle and how to massage and relax it individually.

2010:  69 hours of Deep Structural Release   ( Structural integration)  in 2010 with Gary Schwander. This course established my understanding of how muscles affect posture and how to massage muscles in ways that help posture.

2011: Associate Degree of applied Science.

From Athens Technical School

Associate of Science in applied Technology

2015: Training Sports Massage with Oleg Bouimer

In February of 2015 I massaged at a the ccsm swimming event in Athens Ga. I bought a cd and watched a 70 minute instructional video on sports massage. As I massaged the swimmers and got to know them over the three day event they started swimming measurably faster.  We were pretty excited.  The next year I massage at the event again and then went and massaged at the national college finals in Atlanta.  I started studying sports massage and went to Charlotte NC to learn from Oleg Bouimer, an internationally famous therapist.  He taught us things that we were too uncoordinated to do.  I practiced the routines slower until I could do them at the speed of the Oleg.  Great class . Whether doing Swedish massage or Sports massage, every massage I do has been improved by this class.

2017: Medical Massage Volume 1  with Boris Prilutsky

The course covered massage treatment for Disc herniation, Lumbalgia, Sciatic Nerve Neuralgia, Post-Isometric Relaxation & Back Rehabilitative Exercises.
Before I took this excellent course, I looked at the lumbar spine, gluteal area and the back of the thigh as three separate places.  Now I see not only muscular connections but neurological connections as well.  Before this course I thought  impinged nerves caused weak muscles.  Now I am noticing that cramping muscles are associated with impinged nerves, not just in the legs and gluteal area, from nerves impinged in the lumbar spine, but also in the arms and shoulders from nerves impinged in the neck.

2018: Medical Massage Seminar with Ross Turchaninov
Medical Massage Concept: Osteoarthritis/Soft Tissue Trauma/Compartment Syndromes/plantar Fasciitis 24 hours

This introduced me to medical massage protocols that thousands of European Massage Therapists have been practicing and perfecting since 1940 and longer.  It was as if I went to a time in the future where massage was respected and honored as a treatment for pain and  a healing modality. The whole of civilisation was on board with the practice. The class was Taught by Ross Turchaninov,

2018: Jim enrolled in The School of Natural Healing Family Herbalist class. I completed it in Oct of 2018. This is an on line school that involves extensive reading and typing. I learned much about self care with herbs. After this class I am using  herbal formulas to improve vision, improve hearing. I am using food to detox from mercury and improve my memory. I am using pepitas(food) to help my prostate as needed and juniper berries to help urine flow as needed. The course did not cover all this but it helped expose me to these remedies. Yes, it is very literally a life changer.

Thanks Dr, Christopher

2020:  In July Jim finished his next 216 hours of herbal class,  Nutritional Herbalist from the School of Natural Healing.
I lost 15 pounds by eating more things that promote weight loss and less things that cause weight gain. I am leaning toward being vegan ( not something I expected at the beginning of this class). Though  not covered in the class , I read the directions, I am making hawthorn berry syrup, super immune garlic formula, and comfrey/goldenseal salve. I learned about ways of reversing most chronic diseases with food and herbs.
